These pictures are in chronological order, so you can follow my learning curve....

M42 031207 This is my first reasonable picture of M42, the Great Nebula in Orion.   It was imaged with my LX200 and 0.33 focal reducer on 7th December 2003 at about 23:10 UT.
M42 040125 This is my second attempt at M42, the Orion Nebula.   It was imaged with my LX200 and 0.33 focal reducer starting at 22:30 UT on 25th January 2004.
M42 041114 This is my third attempt at M42, the Orion Nebula.   It was imaged with my LX200 with a 0.33 focal reducer and Orion Skyglow filter starting at 00:04 UT on 14th November 2004.
At last I think I'm beginning to understand how to combine different exposures to get better pictures.
M42 041130 This is my first attempt at M42 using my 270mm SLR lens.   The lens was attached to my modified Toucam 840K and piggybacked on my ETX125.   The picture also shows M43, just above and to the left of M42.  The page also has a picture of Nair Al Saif.
M42 041217 This picture was taken with a "poor man's" H-alpha filter.  It was made with my LX200 with 0.33 focal reducer, Orion Skyglow and Parkes No.21 filters.
M42 060208 This picture was taken through a SkyWatcher ST80 piggy-backed on my LX200.
This picture was taken with my monochrome Atik camera.
Another picture taken with my monochrome Atik camera; this time in H-α light.
I have bought a commercial H-α filter and an OIII filter.  Here is my first light with these filters.
This is the first light on this nebula with a new Atik 16ic colour camera.
This is my first attempt to combine pictures taken in three narrow wavelength bands, OIII, Hα, and SII.
A wider-angled view of the nebula taken with my 135-mm, SLR lens, MX716 camera and three narrow-band filters, H-alpha, SII, and OIII.
The same wider-angled view of the nebula taken with my 135-mm, SLR lens, and MX716 camera but with the standard Astronomik LRGB filters.  This gives more realistic colour to the picture.
This is a colour picture taken with my new DFK 21AF04.AS camera.
This is another false-colour picture taken by my MX716 camera with H-α, OIII, and SII filters.
This a picture in Hα light taken through my 8-inch Ritchey-Chrétien fitted with my 0.33 focal reducer (operating at ×0.45)
This picture was taken using an unmodified DSLR.
