Images of Saturn 2019 Home

These images cover the 2019 season. Saturn reached opposition on 11th July 2019.

This year the rings are continuing to close with the northern side presented towards us. Although Saturn is continuinging to move slowly north, it is still far south of the ecliptic.  This means that Saturn is still very low in the sky and at a time when it never gets truly dark at my latitude (53°N).  So imaging is as difficult as last year.

The images are in chronological order.

This picture was taken at prime focus of my 10-inch LX200.  The inclination of the rings was 24·6° and Saturn was at an altitude of 14°.  It was 9.05 AU (1.35×10^9 Km.) away and subtended 18.4 arc-seconds.
