My Observatory.  15. The Telescope. Home

I've mounted the telescope, an LX200 Classic, on its wedge.  It feels a lot more solid than it ever did on the tripod, so it will be interesting to see how it behaves when I'm imaging and the wind is blowing.  I have yet to decide how to run the cables.  I intend to continue to run it off the battery, although mains is now an option.  I use a DC-DC converter (just out of the picture) to produce 18 volts for the telescope and the focuser;  hence the little box fixed to the pillar.  What I may do is move the battery to under the desk and run an 18-volt and a 12-volt cable across the floor to this box and a similar one to distribute 12 volts to cameras.  Usually I run the laptop from this battery also via another DC-DC converter.  I am also aware that I no longer have a convenient place to hang the handbox, so I may extend its lead so that I can have it on the desk.  I have a similar problem with my little focuser control, and the electric focuser for my ST80.
