This is an extremely faint bubble of gas in Cygnus, only discovered in 2008. Classified PN G75.5+1.7, popular name the Soap Bubble Nebula. See here.

25th July and 24th August. ST-10 binned 2x2 on 12" LX200 ACF at f7, 12 x 10 minutes H-alpha, 4 x 10 minutes each OIII and SII, 'Hubble' palette (SHO= RGB)

NGC 246 - the interesting and quite large 'Skull' planetary nebula in Cetus. 26th December 2008.

12"LX200ACF OTA at f7, SBIG ST10XME with Astrodon filters and AO-8. Luminance 12 x 5 minutes, RGB 5 (blue 4) x 5 minutes. The central star is a double - the box in the top right corner is a less stretched crop showing the duplicity.

Meade 12" LX200R OTA at f10, SBIG ST10XME, Astrodon filters, AO-8. Luminance 15 x 5 minutes, RGB each 5 x 5 minutes.

 

NGC 2371 planetary nebula in Gemini, near Castor, but usually passed over for the better known Eskimo Nebula. Very interesting bipolar shape, definitely reminds me of a toffee in purple wrapping out of a Quality Street tin. I hereby name it the Purple Toffee Nebula. 7th December 2007.

The Helix planetary nebula, NGC 7293 in Aquarius. September 10th. 2007. It never rises higher than 14 degrees from my location, and requires very good conditions to be imaged successfully.

Messier 57, the 'Ring' nebula in Lyra. 17th. July 2007. Also in this image, brought out through the magic of digital processing is the faint 15th. magnitude galaxy IC1296.
