The Sun on 17 April 2011 Home

The whole Sun.  I am not pleased with this picture.  The processing is a bit too aggresive, but there was high cloud at the time and the original picture is weak and less-agressive processing made the spots look very pale.

A close-up picture of spot number 11190.  This group first appeared on the 12th of April.

A close-up picture of spot number 11191.  This is the spot in the lower-right of this picture and first appeared around the limb on the 13th of April.  I am not clear about the identity of the small spot towards the upper-left.  It does not appear to be associated with spot 11191 or group 11193 (below), and is not 11192 which appeared much further east and was disappearing around the limb by the time I took this picture.  It seems to be too small to show on the SOHO pictures.  Maybe it is a new one and will appear in later pictures.
