The Sun and its Spots on 21th August 2005 Home

The Sun on 050821 The whole Sun.  Move the mouse over the image to see the designations.  There is also another spot numbered 10801 (SW of 10800) but I don't think I can see it.

Camera: ToUcam 740K

Sun on 050821 A closer view of sunspots 10797 (the little one) and 10798 (the large one).  Spot 10798 has grown considerably since I was last able to image it three days ago.  It now looks a bit like 10797 did then.

Date and Time: 21th August 2005 07:26 UT
Camera: ToUcam 740K
Telescope: ETX125 at prime focus.
Capture: K3CCDTools. Low gamma, B/W, 1/250", 20% gain, 624 frames.
Processing: Registax. 177 frames stacked. Wavelets 1-3 = 10, contrast 135, brightness -40
Sun on 050821 An even closer view of sunspot 10798.  It was taken with my X2 lens attached to the ETX125.  I have never felt that this extra magnification is really justified but here it is for what it is worth.  (Compare it with the picture above.  I think you will see why I don't usually try this.)
