I was lucky to catch this strange "formation". An hour later it had gone. The cross is formed by the rising sun light catching the tops of ridges between the craters in this rugged area with the tiny crater La Caille D on the top.

The picture was taken using my LX200 on 18th November 2015 at 17:46 UT when the Moon was 6.8 days old.
The scale markers are approximately 100 Km North and East.
