The Dome Home

The dome has arrived from Pulsar.  This is how it arrived in a white Transit van.  The dome itself is in four sections plus the shutter.  The ring (Pulsar call it a "short wall") is also in four sections.  Everything bolts together and all the hardware needed is included, including the sealant to seal the joins (but not the applicator).  All the parts are light enough for one man to carry with ease and the delivery driver (who is a member of staff at Pulsar) willingly took the pieces round the back despite the building works going on round about.  He was also very knowledable about the domes and could answer all my immediate questions.

The only slightly unexpected feature is that the section of the dome below the shutter does not open.  This obviously may restrict my view to the horizon and hence affect my decision on the height of the pillar.  A view of the horizon is only useful for focusing during the day which can be handy if I'm changing optics.
