This is a modified and cooled Vesta webcam. It is special because it was made by Jan Timmermans and Peter Katreniak, two giants in the world of QCUIAG. I bought it from Jan when I was thinking about modifying my own and was somewhat nervous about taking it on. I don't use it much these days. As you can see it still takes the original lens which means one has to use a webcam-eyepiece adaptor, which is not convenient for me. I added the nasty little brackets as a way to fix it to my piggyback (see here) or a photographic tripod. Its greatest use of late has been to image the rotating sky and in an attempt to catch meteors. (Maybe one day there will be a QCUIAG museum which would like to have it…) |
