Iona

The first view of Iona with its abbey, seen from Fionnphort.
The other side of the abbey.
We walked across the island and had our lunch in this beautiful bay.  In Gaelic it is called Camas Cuil an t-Saimh (The Bay at the Back of the Ocean), but I have also seen it called Insel.

This would have been a truly idyllic and peaceful place had it not been for the fact that, behind the beach, is a machair that is communal grazing for the island's sheep.
