The Russian Steppe Eagle

The Russian Steppe Eagle, as its name implies, comes from an area from Romania in the west, through the Russian steppes, to Mongolia in the east.  Birds from the west of this area migrate to Africa in the winter, those in the east go to India.  In contrast to the sea eagle, it prefers arid regions, desert, steppes, and savannah.  It feeds mostly on carrion but will kill rodents and small mammals up to the size of a hare, and birds up to the size of a partridge.  The wingspan can be as much as 2.1 metres and they can weigh up to 5 kg.
