The Aurora Borealis 20th March 2015 Home

The second night was clear again.  The aurora was fainter than on the previous night but was more extensive.  Below are six examples of what we saw between 22:04 and 22:20 local time;  all these pictures were taken with 30 seconds exposure and have been enhanced by increasing the contrast and brightness in PhotoImpact (C40 B20) in order to show the aurora more clearly.  We also saw a remarkable series of ripples moving rapidly across the sky overhead.  These ripples, or waves, were moving much too rapidly to photograph.
