Philomela is asteroid number 196. It was discovered by C. F. H. Peters on 14th May 1879. It is an S-type asteroid with a diameter of 136 Km and a rotation period of 8.3 hours. It has an albedo of 0.23 and here was at a magnitude of about 12.
