M1, the Crab Nebula.  Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Sulphur emissionsHome

These are the individual frames that gave rise to the previous image of M1 in the light from Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Sulphur.  The emissions are fairly weak so needed some enhancement to make the colours clearly visible.  The final colour picture is reproduced at the bottom.  Note that the colours are false.  The emission from Hydrogen is red, and from Oxygen is green, but that from Sulphur is actually red.

Hydrogen Alpha.

Oxygen III

Sulphur II

The composite colour image.  Hα is red, OIII is green, SII is blue.
